Who is Gorfenna for?

Gorfenna is a wheelchair accessible site made up of approximately 10 acres (two of our fields are also wheelchair accessible) and boasts 2 purpose built areas along with a large secure car park and has fully accessible toilet and shower facilities.

One area is a steel framed building which has a garage pit long enough for lorries, tractors etc. This houses the woodwork shop and has three very large professional woodwork benches. The woodwork shop is fully kitted out with power tools and everything needed for making gates, doors, bird tables, nest boxes, garden furniture etc.  We also have a painting area with tables and chairs.

The second area consists of a building that is divided into three.  One is a room that we use to teach cookery and has a pool table for free use by anyone. This is where we have themed dining evenings and about 45 + folk come along and join us for an evening meal.  It is also our party room for discos, celebrations and special occasions.

Another room is a craft room, which has two craft tables which can each seat eight people.

Our third room is called the Crib Room (or common room) and in here there are tables for lunch and refreshments.  It has an area for making tea/coffee, a microwave, a grill and a fridge for milk and lunches to be stored. It also has washing up facilities with hot water tap and a dishwasher.

As well as this, we are a registered Social Farm and have chickens, stables for the miniature horses, a sty for the pigs, along with our poly tunnel and fields of grazing animals such as goats and sheep.

We were part of the team who helped develop and comply with Social Farms and Gardens Code of Practice as well as being an associate of Dementia Adventure and 'supported by' The Royal Voluntary Service.
